Niche Research 3: Keyword Research Tips

May 20, 2019 By Rachel Harrison-Sund

I’ll be honest with you guys, keyword research is definitely my least favourite part of the self-publishing process.

For a creative person like me, it can feel tedious, time-consuming and downright soul-destroying. (Cue the world’s smallest violin.)

Unfortunately, it’s the most critical action you can take to increase your book’s visibility in the Amazon store—it’s the number one reason why I made over $150,000 USD in profits last year, without any advertising or marketing efforts whatsoever—so you’ve got to stay with me here and learn how to do it correctly.

There are many tools out there to help make the process faster, which I’ll be talking about in subsequent videos, but if you’re a total beginner it’s best to learn the foundation first and then get fancy a bit later on down the line.

In today’s video I’ll be sharing 3 simple ways to generate relevant keywords for your validated book idea, and at the end you’ll have a list of highly relevant, low-competition keywords that will increase your book’s visibility in the Amazon store—and your chances of making those sweet, sweet sales.

Great post. Keyword research is the hardest part. I am just starting out and hope to get some books loaded on kdp.

Thanks Nishi! Keyword research is definitely the hardest (and least favourite) part for me too. You are not alone! However, it’s the best thing we can do to provide visibility to our books in the store, so we have to hang in there!

Good luck with your first books; I wish you lots of success!
